Village Panto has record ticket sales and wins Grant from Parish Council

Iver Heath Drama Club has been performing its popular annual pantomime for almost 70 years. This January’s show, Treasure Island, has seen record sales figures which means with two months until ‘curtains open’, there are two shows completely sold out. In fact over 59% of tickets have already sold. Alice Campling, 15, has been helping run the Box Office. “Tickets start selling slowly in October and slowly increase over Christmas. This year we’ve seen a huge surge before December has even started!”

Club Chairman and Pantomime Dame Matt Streuli said “We're a small not-for-profit community group run by volunteers. Our aim is to put on great shows while having great fun and these record ticket sales show the public are having great fun too.” The club was established in 1948 and has over 40 active members. Mr Streuli, who is also a local Teaching Assistant, went on to say “The club is all inclusive which means we welcome and involve members who have Physical, Mental or Learning Disabilities. The club really helped me as a teenager when dealing with the death of my alcoholic mother and I am so pleased the Club can continue to support anyone and everyone into the future.”

This week Ivers Parish Council has awarded the club a grant to support their ongoing work with Children and Vulnerable Adults. Carol Campling is the Club Treasurer and a local Childminder. She said “Grants like these from Ivers Parish Council and Pinewood Studios are a real boost in helping us keep ticket prices and membership fees affordable for everyone”.

Vice Chair and Show Director Claire Freeman is proud that the Club’s pantomime was attracting a new audience. “This year we welcome Scouts and Brownies from Iver Heath and as far away as Uxbridge and Greenford. We offer almost professional shows at a community price.” The club meets every Wednesday throughout the year at the Iver Heath Village Hall.

Treasure Island, the village pantomime, is being performed 6 times at Iver Heath Village Hall between Saturday 27th January 2018 to Saturday 3rd February. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 concessions) are £27 and can be booked at or by calling 07450 201 327.
